Inspired by Art Deco..

Midnight in Paris..

I was very lucky to have an opportunity to attend amazing exhibition called "Art Deco style" collected and created by costume designer and fashion historian Alexandre Vassiliev. He also gave incredibly inspiring lecture "Fashion Icons of the 20th century". It was a year ago..
Than some time ago I read an article which reminded me about the Art Deco period in fashion and life style and recently I saw the movie "Midnight in Paris" where were all the fashion icons Alexandre Vassiliev was talking about in his lecture and after I read about their life style in article.. So, I was really inspired by the Art Deco period..

This is a story of my mood board I've created for my collection.. BTW this will be my first collection, so, we'll see.. ;)

[Art Deco originated in Europe and became known after the correct name of the 1925 Paris Exhibition. The exhibition was called The Great Exposition Des Arts Modernes Decoratifs Et Industriels. The style was most popular in the Stylish Thirties as well as between 1920 and 1940 by which time it had refined itself. The artist Erté was a master of Art Deco. The sets and costumes for stage and film that he designed influenced other fashion designers between 1915 and 1936.] http://www.artandculture.com

Haute Couture.. or.. art..

Mostly we talk about ready-to-wear or street style.. but we shouldn't forget the most amazing part of the whole fashion industry Haute Couture..  It's a true work of art..
What are your thoughts on Haute Couture?

Here are some of my very favorites from Fall 2011 collections..
I'd be absolutely ready to wear all of Jean Paul Gaultier creations.. He is my favorite one!

[If The Fashion was born in Paris, then it celebrates its birthday at least twice a year: in late January and early July. The party lasts for five days and holds a proud French name «semaine d’haute couture», which can roughly be translated into the language of Shakespeare as “High Fashion Week”.] http://www.hautecouturenews.com

Absolutely adorable coats from Azzedine Alaia..

[Being the apotheosis of the six months of creation process, fashion shows ”compete” in originality, sophistication and luxury. The list of designers of haute couture, accredited by the Chambre syndicale de la haute couture, reminds the short-list of the Nobel Prize nominees, and a number requirements for those wishing to get on this list can scare even the most ambitious.] http://www.hautecouturenews.com

Always elegant and chic Chanel..

[Being the very quintessential of Parisian chic and elegance haute couture combines the perfectly adjusted to a millimeter cut, the most expensive fabrics and materials with many hours of manual work. It is a whole philosophy and a culture of clothing for a narrow circle of the chosen ones, not exceeding several hundred clients around the world. Haute couture is a tale of ethereal lace, flowing chiffon, shiny satin, diaphanous silk and delicate velvet, it allows us to dream about the absolute inaccessible beauty and eternally young romance.] http://www.hautecouturenews.com

Givenchy has created perfectly feminine, sexy and sophisticated dresses.. Who wouldn't want to wear some of these and feel like the most beautiful women on the earth.. I definitely would like to have at least one of them in my wardrobe..

Be inspired by Haute Couture - art and pure beauty.. Have a nice weekend!

Beauty of ballet, Black Swan and Natalie Portman..

Edgar Degas
(1834 - 1917, Paris)

When you dance, your purpose is not to get to a certain place on the floor. It's to enjoy each step along the way.
-Wayne Dyer-

“Dance is the hidden language of the soul of the body.”

Dancing is my passion.. Dance is my biggest inspiration in life.. I absolutely enjoyed every moment in the movie Black Swan and every garment Natalie and eny other ballerina was wearing on the stage and also garments dancers were wearing at the trainings.. Kate and Laura Mulleavy (Rodarte) made completely feminine, sophisticated and dramatic stage dresses..

Even if I'm not a ballerina, I'm truly in love with those shapes and that sensuality which is captured in garments they wear especially the tulle dresses and feathers..  And I'm definitely willing to complement my wardrobe with something feminine made of feathers and maybe tulle..

Everyone can dance or feel herself as a dancer..

Fashion Icon Iman..

“The Girl Who Loves Bubbles and Talks To Plants”

“He doesn't cook or shop or do anything. Not because he's a rock star, but because I wouldn't trust him. He can't even boil water.”

“I have not been in these tents or seen a fashion show live since 1989, when I stopped modeling, ... The only person who can get me back here is Naomi and definitely for Fashion for Relief.”

“began back in the mid-70s when I started my career as a model and began seeing more similarities than differences among different ethnic groups. Let's face it: women of every race, nationality and background want the same thing - to look radiant and feel beautiful in their own skin. I wrote 'The Beauty of Color' as visual tribute, celebration and insider information for women from diverse backgrounds. When I came to the US, the beauty message was 'America celebrates the girl next door.' Well, not only has the girl next door changed, the whole neighborhood has changed!”

"I think people just like to celebrate their own beauty now rather than be put into a box.”

Every lady should have a muff.. Not just to keep her hands warm, but to look extremely chic..
